Data Sharing and Privacy Notice

Personal Data

In order to determine eligibility and qualification for an allocation of accommodation the London Borough of Bexley needs to collect personal data from applicants and any household members included as part of their application.

This information includes:

  • Proof of identity

  • Address history

  • Financial information

  • Information about your current home and household

  • Medical details, (where these are a relevant part of any consideration in relation to priority for housing and type of housing to be allocated)

  • Details of any anti-social behaviour, rent arrears or evictions

The London Borough of Bexley is not a stock holding authority and therefore nominates persons to become tenants of registered providers (housing associations) in its borough where is has an agreement with that provider to do so. The data collected by the London Borough of Bexley in its housing application form, including personal data, needs to be shared with those providers so they can make an assessment of your suitability as a tenant for any property that either you bid for or we put your forward to be considered for.

Information about medical conditions provided as part of an application will need to be considered to determine;

  • whether it gives any additional priority for rehousing; and/ or
  • what type of property is suitable for you

To make this assessment it is often necessary to pass your medical information on to other health professionals so they can provide additional information and professional opinion to assist us in our decision making. This can include;

  • occupational therapists
  • hospital consultants, GPs and other health professionals who you are currently seeing, or have been seeing you or the relevant member(s) of your household, for treatment
  • mental health workers
  • organisations such as Oxleas, a local NHS Foundation Trust providing a community health, mental health and learning disability service

It may also be necessary to give this information to the registered providers when we make nominations and/or when you bid and are shortlisted for any properties so we and they can make sure any property offered is suitable for your needs.

Medical details given to other health professionals and any additional information provided by health professionals will be held in the strictest confidence and any details passed on to key partners will be kept securely and destroyed when no longer needed.
